President's Message - February

Hi everyone,

I am now going to reach out over the clubs yahoo group for more ideas on how our club can celebrate its fortieth birthday next year. I have gotten some ideas from members so now I would like to get this conversation started. Here are some of them so far.

• Is a huge celebration at the next banquet? What a great achievement?
• Is a huge all day BBQ here in town.

Other ideas are that it should not be celebrated all in one day. Somehow make the celebration last for the whole year.

• Possibly have some kind of commemorating item such as a coffee mug with the occasion printed on it. I started to think of just how cool it would be to approach Dave Whitlock for a commissioned painting that we could make prints of and do t-shirts, coffee mugs, quilts and a multitude of other items. The picture could be something with the OFF name and year 1971-2011 along with Dave's wonderful fish drawings.
• Getting achievable pictures of the past club members and activities’ along with getting as many past presidents together for the occasion.

Ok, I hope that I got some of your juices flowing. So please post on this subject to my personal email or the subject line on the OFF yahoo group. I will get back to you as I start to log the ideas.

My next project: I have an idea about a little article each month for the news letter. I want to title it "Tip of the Month". I have got just about 12 different ideas that are fly fishing related. I would like to ask our membership to send me any tip they may have to my personal email.

I will give credit to the submitter of the idea I use in that month.

Since I have a personal problem making the news letter dead line I am going to approach our web master with this idea. If he likes it then they will go on the web site. That is really cool because I would have no dead line.

If that fails then I will just post the ideas here on the clubs yahoo group once a month.
